A pleasant morning stroll through the CICY Botanical Garden in Mérida, Yucatan. An interesting assortment of native trees and shrubs. Of course, I’m drawn to roots, bark, and interesting stumps.
Uninhabited homes, found along the shore in Telchac Puerto, Yucatán.
Latest addition to our collection: Untitled by Alberto Castillo Ku, 1920 – 2010, Yucatán. Castillo became friends with Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo in Mexico City in the 1940´s. After a period in Acapulco and the United States, he returned to his family home in Mérida where he lived until his death.
For some reason I was seeing animalistic faces in the strange scars on the trunks of these trees.
